2010 NATIONAL SMALL ART QUILT WORKS
July 23 - September 5, 2010
OPENING RECEPTION Saturday, July 24th 5-8 pm
Once again summer brings the creativity of the art quilt to The Main Street Gallery, Groton, NY. The 7th National Small Art Quilt Works Exhibition will take place from July 23rd until September 5th. There will be an Opening Reception on Saturday, July 24th from 5 - 8 pm. Light refreshments will be served and the event is open and free to the public.
Small contemporary art quilts are meant to hang on the wall. This quilt form functions like a canvas and the color and texture of the fabric are like the paint, allowing for free expression. In keeping with the spirit of the art quilt, the exhibition's range of style, technique and content are diverse. The art quilt can combine different crossover elements from drawing, painting, photography, printing and sculpture to create this new and exciting art form.
Thirty two fiber artists from across the United States have been selected by jurors Cathy Rosa Klimaszewski, Ames Associate Director for Programs/Curator of Education, Herbert F Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell Unviersity and Roger Smith, painter, sculptor, educator and Director of The Main Street Gallery.
